Internal testing and UAT for a P2P lending platform

Tested a P2P lending crowdfunding platform for small businesses on web, mobile, and API, and led internal testing and UAT.

Context

The platform connects funders with small businesses that need loans. Since it deals with money, the numbers on screen have to match what's stored in the database. I also investigated complaints from app users.

Scope

Loan application and funding flows on web and mobile
API endpoints used by the apps
Matching on-screen data against the database
Preparing and running UAT

Out of scope

Performance and security testing were not part of my role on this project.

Approach

Manual testing from requirement documents, API testing in Postman, and database queries to verify data. Before UAT, I led internal testing so the main bugs were found first.

The two cards below are illustrative examples. They are rewritten in general terms with dummy data, not copies of real test cases or tickets.

TC-FUND-03

Title: Funder can't fund more than the remaining loan amount
Precondition: Logged in as a funder. A dummy loan is still open.
Test data: Dummy loan with a remaining amount, funding amount above that.
Steps: Open the dummy loan details.
Enter a funding amount above the remaining amount.
Tap Fund.
Expected result: A message says the amount exceeds what's remaining. No new transaction appears in the database.

Title: Remaining loan amount on the details page doesn't update after a successful funding
Severity: Major
Priority: High
Environment: Staging, Chrome on Windows
Steps: Log in as a funder.
Fund part of a dummy loan.
Go back to the loan details page.
Expected result: The remaining amount drops by the funded amount and matches the database.
Actual result: The old amount stays on screen until the page is reloaded.
Attachment: Screenshots of the details page before and after funding, plus the database query result (dummy data).

What I did

I wrote test scenarios from the requirements, ran them on web, mobile, and API, checked the data against the database, and prepared and led the internal testing and UAT sessions.
